The will of Robert Farris

In the name of God Amen, the Sixteenth day of June A.D. 1803. I Robert Farries of York District and State of South Carolina, am sick and weak in body, but perfect in mind and memory, thanks be to God, do make this my last will and testament; the particulars is as follows.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son Moses twenty dollars.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son David a saddle and briddle and cow and calf.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah the sum of five dollars.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Ann her bed and furniture, her wheel, one cow and calf.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Hannah a bed and furniture, a sorrel filly, cow and calf, her wheel.
Item: I give and bequeath, and demise to my son Robert Arthur, my plantation known by the name of Bethel.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary a bed and furniture and my sorrel mare's last spring colt.
Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Isabella Gordon, a bed and furniture and cow and calf.
Item: I give and bequeath to my son John McWhorter the plantation I now live on to be his after the death or marriage of his mother.
Item: I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Hannah, two work horses, sufficient ploughts, hoes and other implements for farming to carry on said plantation, for the purpose of raising my children to her death or marriage, I also allow her all my household and kitchen furniture with all the residue of my estate, not otherwise disposed of, to be for her use and at her disposal.
Item: I give and bequeath to James Bigger, when he has fully complied with his indenture; a horse and saddle worth seventy dollars.
Lastly I ordain, nominate and appoint, my beloved wife Hannah, and her brother John, and my son Moses to execute this my last will and testament, hereby revokeing and disannulling all former wills, bequeathments or demises, or legacies, made or done, by me in any wise before this time: Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament, Authorizing and Impowering my Exers above named to make sufficient titles and conveyances to the above named lands. In testimony whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal the date and date above written.
