York County is bordered on the north by Cleveland, Gaston and Mecklenburg counties (Charlotte) in North Carolina; on the south by Chester County, S.C.; On the east by Lancaster County, S.C.; and on the west by Cherokee County, S.C. and just a bit of Union County, S.C., next to the Bullock Creek township.
